61st Sports Day Overview: Teachers' Sports Meet and Introduction to the Event
The 61st sports day of Thiagarajar College of Engineering is set to take place on Friday, March 28, 2025. On this occasion, all students who have won prizes—both individually and as part of a team—will receive their awards. Department-wide achievements will also be recognized. The prizes will be distributed by Mr. G. E. Sridharan, former indian volleyball player and recipient of the Arjuna Award.

A former Indian volleyball player and coach, Mr Sridharan represented India in international tournaments from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. He was honured with the Arjuna Award in 1982 by the goverment of India.A fter retiring as a player, he became a successful ch, leading the Indian junior men's volleyball team to multiple victories, including a gold medal at the 2003 Asian Youth Championship and a silver at the 2004 World Youth Championship. His coaching success earned him the Dronacharya Award in 2007.

The Teachers' Sports Day was held yesterday, featuring enthusiastic participation from faculty members in various events such as fast walking, shot put, and discus throw.

A special mention goes to Professor Ramalinga Chandrasekhar from the Chemistry Department, who threw the shot put an impressive distance.

Additionally, there was an entertaining slow walking competition between Professor S. Prasanna, Associate Dean Extra Curriculums and Principal Ashok Kumar. In the end, Professor Prasanna emerged victorious.
INTER DEPARTMENT TROPHY
The Interdepartmental Sports Trophy 2024-25 ended on a high note. The event was inaugurated with a cricket match between the Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Science Engineering departments. The match was graced by the presence of the college principal, who officially inaugurated the tournament on Republic Day, January 26, 2025. This year, the Information Technology (IT) department emerged as the Overall Champions.
